Track Season Comes to a Close

As the track season officially comes to close , the LGHS track team can proudly say they were successful this season. All the blood, sweat, and tears paid off now that Los Gatos can boast victories at school versus school meets, invitational meets, and championships.
At the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League finals on Apr. 27, Los Gatos’ teams did not disappoint. Three seniors β€” Will Brennan, Brady Kamali, and Levi Romero β€” placed second, fourth, and fifth in the Varsity 200-meter run. In the Varsity 1600 Meter run, sophomores Aydon Stefanopoulos and Ben Klarich placed second and fourth, respectively. Stefanopoulos took first place in the Varsity 3200-meter run. The Varsity 4×400 Meter race put Los Gatos first, thanks to Levi Romero, junior Jake Bohane, Brady Kamali, and Will Brennan. In the field competitions, senior Alex Denman took home second place in Varsity Discus, and Brady Kamali took third in the Varsity High Jump.
Sophomore Emma Arbitaylo finished second in the Varsity 100 and 200-meter runs, while senior Sophie Tau placed fifth in the Varsity 1600 run. Senior Abigail Lo placed fourth in the Varsity 100 Meter Hurdles, while senior Jeanette Li placed second in the Varsity 300 Meter Hurdles. In the Varsity 4×100 run, Li, freshman Bridget Moore, Janie Marie Vidovich, and Emma Arbitaylo finished in second place. Arbitaylo, Li, Addison Lundstrom, and Shea Elmore placed third in the 4×400 run. Sophomore Nicole Steiner got first place in the Varsity Shot Put and second in the Varsity Discus. In the Varsity High Jump, Hannah Slover and Lo placed first and third, and Lo also placed first in the Varsity Triple Jump.
The Los Gatos’ track team took home the crown at the CIF-Central Coast Section Championships on May 20, with the boys’ varsity team becoming the 2023 High School Champions. Romero, Boxer Kopcsak-Yeung, Kamali, and Brennan took fourth in the final 4×100 run. Thanks to the high speeds of Romero, Jake Bohane, Kamali, and Brennan, Los Gatos placed first in the 4×400 race. Will Brennan and Levi Romero took gold and silver in the final 400 Meter run, while the 4×800 team, led by Ben Klarich, Cooper Codding, Noah Hale, and Keaton Wong, placed sixth. Stefanopoulos won gold in the Boys’ 3200-meter run. On the field, Lo took fifth place in the Girls’ Triple Jump. Nicole Steiner placed eighth in the Girls’ Discuss throw.
The winners advance to the 103rd CIF State TF Champs Prelims and subsequent finals over the Memorial day holiday weekend.
