Staff Advisor – Doug Garrett
Editors-In-Chief – Charlotte Pla, Danika Lyle, Jessica Blough, and Lark Breen
Charlotte Pla is her name, Bravo TV is her game. From a prepubescent Humor Editor, to a pubescent World Editor, and now an overly pubescent Editor-in-Chief, Charlotte has always crossed the line with her jokes and plans on crossing the line again in the near future. She’s been trying to get sponsored by Teva and/or achieve Instagram fame for months now. If you see her around, ask about her infected piercing or incredibly strong toenails.
Danika L is a senior at LGHS. This is her third season on El Gato The All Stars. Fans know her best from past season highlights such as “Crap, she spilled salsa all over the floor,” and “For the last time, no Croc articles.” Tune in this season to watch as she takes on the role of Editor-in-Chief. Will a steamy love scandal erupt between yearbook and the paper? Will her lettuce podcast ever make a sequel? Will she ever switch shoe brand? All will be revealed on El Gato The All Stars: Senior Year.
Jessica Blough is slightly terrified but mostly excited to be one of this year’s Editors-in-Chief alongside three of the people she most admires. She spent her summer enjoying Belgian street waffles and riding Icelandic horses at the Dutch FEIF Youth Cup. Some of her many goals for this school year are to go to the beach more, decide whether she wants to be called “Jess” or “Jessica” in college, and perform at one of the LGHS talent shows. If you want her to be in a good mood during Press Week, bring her peach iced tea, iced vanilla lattes, and guacamole.
Lark Breen is a senior and an Editor-in-Chief on El Gato this year. She is the true owner of Arlo, the most famous dog at La Rinconada, and will allow visitations for a small fee. Lark is named after a songbird, and sometimes (frequently) follows the bird’s lead by testing out her vocal chords, with less-than-amazing but generally far-from-horrible results. She is originally from Truckee, California–NOT Nevada–and loves winter, travel, chocolate, fiction, and El Gato News.
Broadcast Editors – Drew Shelton, Camille Fowler, and Erin Grasty
Camille Fowler is a senior this year, and it is her second year on El Gato. A resident of the Santa Cruz mountains, she spends most of her time complaining about how much time she spends driving. In her free time Camille enjoys playing with her dogs, wearing too much grey, and watching YouTube makeup tutorials.
When Drew isn’t playing football he’s ballin’ on the PS4 playing 2k16. He likes hanging out with his friends on the weekends and going to the beach. Drew Shelton is a senior this year, a new member of the broadcast team, and super excited to be on staff.
The incredibly talented and intelligent sophomore Erin Grasty is experiencing her first year on the staff of El Gato as a member of the Broadcast Team. She enjoys running, playing soccer, and singing in the LGHS Chamber Choir. Her role models in life are Tyler Joseph and Joshua Dun. In her free time, you will likely find Erin taking pictures of her mejor amiga, Zoë.
Graphic Editors – Dylan Lasher and Hannah Whitney
Hannah Whitney is a senior, and this is her first year in El Gato as a member of the Graphics team. On a typical day, you will probably find her ranting about her dream to move back to the East Coast which means that she is not a fan of warm, consistent weather. She enjoys re-watching every season of The Office, shopping for The Office merchandise online, and earning high scores in The Office trivia.
Dylan Lasher is a senior in high school now and is proud to announce that he will be the Graphic Designer for El Gato this year. He most likely has many skills that probably make him a good fit for this job. Don’t be fooled by the leather boots, leather jacket, and slick, black, 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, he is only a dabbler into the world of “breakin’ the rulez.” You can surely spot him running around your neighborhood in a pod of about six short-shorts-clad, shirtless, high school boys, and are permitted to yell at us to “run faster”.
Video and Podcast Editors – Adam Knauer, Rachel Keady, and Sophie Kroesche
Adam Knauer is currently attempting to “finish strong” in his senior year at Los Gatos High School. This is his first year on El Gato as a part of the Video Production team and he is incessantly making art, having to start over on his word documents because he forgot to save, eating rice cakes, and being jobless. One thing he’s learned after 17 years – you never know what is gonna come through that door.
Rachel Keady is a senior and is very excited for her first year on El Gato as a part of the Video and Podcasts team! A few things about Rachel: really, really, ridiculously good at quoting Zoolander, too many pets, most likely the slowest girl on Cross Country, cries to get her way with TSA, tries really hard in her dad’s spin classes, but still gets beat by her mom, and recently disowned by her little sister.
Sophie Kroesche is a first year sophomore on El Gato’s Video Production team. She loves creating art and music and likes to surf. In her free time, she enjoys playing field hockey and hanging out with her evil cat. Some of her talents include eating food, making food, and watching too many documentaries.
PR Editors – Abbi Berry and Dana Cook
Dana Cook is a junior at Los Gatos High School, and this is her first year on El Gato’s staff. Dana is one of the two people in charge of Public Relations for El Gato. She enjoys petting dogs, long naps, and trips to Whole Foods with her mom’s credit card. Dana’s biggest pet peeve is when people don’t use the Oxford comma.
Junior Abbi Berry is spending her second year on staff as one half of the newest El Gato team, Public Relations. She is looking forward to balancing her AP’s, developing her body surfing infatuation, and keeping her head above water through it all.
Center Editor – Lauren Sanders

Junior Lauren Sanders is enthusiastic about spending her second year on staff as Center Editor. Lauren loves eating Thai food, cuddling her two enormous Bernese Mountain Dogs, and playing water polo with “the squad.” Her dislikes include sitting quietly and being referred to as Boomlet. If you ever need her, you can probably find her near the food at any given social gathering.
News Editors – Gabrielle Pollock, Sam Zukin, and Keana Kianian
Gabrielle Pollock is a sophomore at LGHS, and this is her first year on the El Gato team as a News Editor. She loves fashion, animals, and music. In her free time she enjoys playing lacrosse, riding her horse Hawk, and playing piano. You’ll most likely find Gabrielle at the barn or binge watching Netflix in her room. She has a deadly fear of sharks and snakes, and has an ongoing candy addiction. Her favorite princess is Ariel and one day she would love to travel to Iceland and live in San Francisco.
Sam Zukin is a junior and is one of the three News Editors on El Gato’s staff. He enjoys playing tennis and is also an avid outdoors enthusiast. In his free time, he likes listening to rap music, binge watching horror movies, and researching well known, infamous crimes. He looks forward to being on El Gato to work on his journalism skills.
Keana Kianian is a News Editor and is very eager to spend her first year on El Gato. When she isn’t dancing on the dance team, she enjoys traveling around the globe, perfecting her brownie recipe, and following her mom to the newest yoga class. Her pet peeves include spending long hours at the mechanic fixing her unstable VW Bug and people who insult her pet chihuahua.
Opinion Editors – Tatum Jenkins and Cole van Miltenburg
Tatum is fifteen years old and a sophomore. This is her first year on the El Gato staff as one of two Opinion editors. She enjoys watching weird crime documentaries on Netflix, reading books bigger than her head, playing with her dogs, and eating trail mix.
Cole van Miltenburg is a junior at LGHS and an Opinion Editor on El Gato’s staff. He enjoys tormenting his dog Milo, obsessing over boba tea, eating fried food, and watching movies with his family and friends. He is so excited to spend another year on staff!
Editorial Editor – Olivia Hill

Senior Olivia Hill is a second year El Gato staff member and the current editorial editor. Even though her picture might not reflect it, she’s really pretty.
National Editor – Sarah Sullivan

Sarah Sullivan is a senior and current National Editor. Her hobbies include walking her dog, writing for El Gato, petting other people’s dogs, watching Star Trek, and just hanging out with her dog. Sarah is also the president of the Model United Nations team and plays field hockey and lacrosse. Once finished with her three-year stint on the newspaper staff, Sarah plans on studying political science and medicine to become the next, improved version of Ben Carson.
People Editors – Emerson-Alysia Hughes and Elizabeth Monsef
Emerson-Alysia Hughes is excited to join the staff of El Gato for her senior year as a People editor. Emerson was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, which explains her love for the ocean and beaches. She has been dancing since she was three, and is on the LGHS Dance Team. She also loves travelling, cuddling with her puppy, reading non-fiction books, listening to Beyoncé, and of course, eating vegemite sandwiches.
Elizabeth Monsef is a senior at LGHS, third-year staff member, and People Editor. She enjoys coming up with bad puns and responding “time to get a watch” whenever someone remotely close by asks “what time is it?” She spent her summer learning new tricks; if asked, she can dig up some humorous videos of wiping out while learning to wakeboard or frantically attempting to juggle. She is constantly looking for buds to increase her movie education, and the Lindsay Lohan version of “The Parent Trap” is at the top of her “To Watch” list. El Gato advisor Mr. Garrett has gone on record telling this senior to “never come to class again after drinking coffee” after she finished explaining how her feet had not stopped moving in 10 minutes.
Sports Editors – Thomas Petroff, Ryan Manseau, and Sanna Hakkarainen
Thomas Petroff is a sophomore and this is his first year on El Gato’s staff. He is an extreme enthusiast of The Office and sci-fi novels. When it comes to sports, he will play absolutely anything despite the absurdity of the sport itself. He enjoys hangin’ out with his super awesome dog Kobe, as well as his two twin cats. Thomas is excited to be a sports editor for El Gato in 2016-17!
Ryan Manseau is a rookie Sports editor for El Gato. His hobbies include football, basketball, and surfing. When Ryan isn’t playing sports, you can find him watching movies, playing, “dunk hoops” or simply eating. The last few things you need to know about Ryan is that he is loves his pets and family very much, along with his sports teams: the San Francisco 49ers and the Golden State Warriors.
Senior Sanna Hakkarainen is pumped to start her second year on El Gato as the coolest sports editor there ever was. Her life goal is one day to become a world famous meme. She enjoys convincing people that the whip is not “so last year” and the color green. If you see her around school, ask about her watch tan. You will not be disappointed.
Culture Editors – Ashley Hagar and Madeline Pollock
Ashley Hagar is a sophomore at Los Gatos and a Culture Editor for El Gato. If she isn’t playing soccer for her year-round club team, running on the track, or eating pretzels, Ashley can be found in the kitchen cooking up a storm. With an older sister off to college, Ashley is adjusting to being an only child in the house and currently trying to take over her sister’s room.
Madeline Pollock is a sophomore at LGHS. This is her first year writing on the El Gato staff as a culture editor. In her free time, Madeline is often found shopping online, riding her horse, and playing lacrosse. She loves fashion, the color pink, Kate Spade and Legally Blonde. Madeline is a twin, and dreams of traveling to Paris.
Humor Editors – Andy Braham and Katherine Monsef
Andy Braham is a sophomore and one of this year’s humor editors. He spends his time chastising other people for their music tastes while obsessing over his own diverse, mature, and perfect playlist. He is often found pacing in circles for unknown reasons. With friends, he enjoys complaining about school and getting CCCs. Lastly, Andy struggles with a debilitating inferiority complex regarding a rival family. His strongest character trait is incompetence, and he is morally bankrupt.
Katherine Monsef is a sophomore at Los Gatos High School and a Humor Editor. She enjoys the strange tan lines she gets from the outdoor sports of lacrosse and field hockey. When the dust and pollen counts are low, she takes part in horseback riding and other outdoor activities. The show Modern Family has inspired her to wear shants on occasion, as she aspires to be more like her role model, Phil Dunphy. She will also get her license soon, so her family recommends that others stay off the roads.
World Editors – John Field and Jordan Evans
John Field is a junior and this is his first year on El Gato. He serves as the World Editor along with Jordan Evans. John plays the tuba in both concert and marching band, and enjoys it no matter how much he complains. John also coaches a sixth and seventh grade robotics team, but he’s really just there for the snacks.
Junior Jordan Evans is returning for her second year on the El Gato staff, serving as one of the World editors this time around. To fill her time between strenuous AP classes and draining Press Weeks, Jordan enjoys blowing air into a metal tube for PE credit, reading a novella’s worth of textposts in a day, and delaying her iPhone’s system updates until Apple comes up with yet another version. This chatty gal is always up for talking about her exotic cat, but you should be warned that she is still recovering from her severe phobia of ukulele music.
