Liat Rubin is a senior and one of El Gato’s editors-in-chief. She loves blossoming friendships, Beyoncé, and El Gato. She is recovering from an Icing on the Cake addiction and has a passion for eating mediterranean chicken sandwiches with Culture Editor Sean Clark at The Purple Onion. She likes to sing and volunteer with children. This summer she spent three weeks in interning at an Los Angeles nonprofit called Baby2Baby.

Montana Fowler tip toes through life as a senior and Editor-in-Chief of this year’s El Gato News. When she is not hiking and enjoying nature, she enjoys playing water polo, writing for El Gato and PAWS, speaking Spanish, or going to Peet’s. Her current favorite book is Dante and Aristotle Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and she loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Rachel Salisbury is a Senior at LGHS and would like to be addressed as “Chief.” Rachel was the Opinion Editor. You may think you have heard about Rachel Salisbury before, possibly through a Facebook campaign, but that is a different Rachel Salisbury. Rachel has a secret tattoo, write a letter to the editor to guess where it is. 😉
Web Editor-In-Chief – Ruth Murai

Ruth Murai is a senior and this year’s Web Editor-in-Chief. Her car has been described as smelling like, “the death of a thousand fruit farms,” but she doesn’t let the haters get her down. She loves to play field hockey with her clique, and her favorite Britney video is definitely “Oops I did it Again”

“The” Maddie Abene is a senior and returning for her second year to El Gato as a Web Editor. She enjoys getting lost in forests, making dinner for her dog Ginger, and discussing nonsense with lunatics. When Maddie is not busy chasing waterfalls and making impossible plans, she is usually sitting down somewhere making dream catchers and painting intricate dot patterns on bottles while listening to Yung JB’s greatest hits. Though dubbed the name “Satan” by her loved ones, she is actually rather emphatic. She is anticipating having loads of fun on Web Team.

Brent Gingell is a senior at LGHS, and is in his first and final year in El Gato. Brent is on the golf team, and is a Web editor this year. In his spare time, he searches for the World’s best fish and chips and binge watches television shows. Brent can’t wait to let people acknowledge how clever he is through his utterly brilliant articles.
News Editor – Kelsey Fleming

Senior Kelsey Fleming, a News Editor for El Gato, is an avid reader, a diligent student, and a dedicated Walking Dead fan. Some of her hobbies include kayaking, boating, hiking, and camping. Her favorite place to travel is Lake Tahoe. When Kelsey is older, she aspires to be a marine biologist and author.
Editorial Editor – Jonathan Friedland

Jonathan Friedland, a senior at LGHS, spends about $270 annually on cinnamon buns. His hobbies include avoiding healthy food, putting Burt’s Bees in his eyes, and occasionally attending his roller hockey club practices. At school, he can often be found in the quad with his “crew” throwing fruit snacks at innocent passers by. His favorite TV show is Alaska State Troopers because of “the high intensity”.
Humor Editor – Aidan Adams Campeau
People Editors– Niamh Doyle, Olivia Pla

Niamh Doyle, a senior at LGHS and one of El Gato’s People editors, is very bad at cooking, though relatively okay at many things. She has a few strengths in particular, but if you need her to do anything she’ll probably do at least a passable job at accomplishing it. Niamh is “full of life” and very cultured; she is a connoisseur of most things.

Olivia Pla, also known as that “chick” from the shower video, has several interests including taking free showers at La Rinconada, Courtside, and the LGSRC. As you can tell, showering is no joke for her. Olivia continues her love for water by playing water polo, a sport she described as “cool” and by lifeguarding which she called “boring.” Overall, Olivia is excited for a senior year full of showers at fancy clubs and chauffeuring her younger sister, Charlotte, from Starbucks to Starbucks.
Sports Editor – Brian Schunk

Brian Schunk has been your typical second-semester senior ever since the start of his sophomore year. Best known for being the chillest person in the room, he is affectionately called “Chill Chief” by his friends and everyone on the El Gato Staff. His loyalty to the El Gato news team is second only to his dedication to the Burt’s Bees Brotherhood.
