As students settle into school, I can’t help but reminisce on what it was like to be a freshman. Now, as a junior with two years of high school under my belt, I remember the nerves, the dramatic ups and downs, and the stress. Having lived through all of that, I thought I’d share the tips that saved me during my freshman year with the newbies.

Run to class: To show your teachers and your classmates that you’re serious about your education, you should run at light speed to your classes. If you have to, push people out of the way. This will ensure, everyone will know you put time and dedication into punctuality.

Remind the teacher about homework: Whether this is at the beginning of class, right when everyone settles in, or right before the bell rings, you have to remind the teacher about collecting or assigning homework. Raise your hand and loudly mention the homework. Trust me, your classmates will love you and thank you.

Try your hardest in PE: I know a large chunk of people dread freshman PE, but that doesn’t mean you should. In fact, you can make it more enjoyable for everyone by trying your absolute hardest. You have to put your whole body into everything that happens in that class. This means if someone messes up or your team loses, you throw a huge fit. Cry as loud and as strong as you can. People will think you’re super athletic and cool, and they’ll definitely want you on their team.

Burst into song: In one of the most popular movies about high school, High School Musical, everyone randomly bursts into song. Spontaneous musical numbers happen at Los Gatos High School all the time. All you have to do is go to the front lawn at lunch or any popular, crowded place and start singing. People will definitely join in, and the choreography will come naturally. Everyone will remember it as one of the most extraordinary things to happen, and they’ll have you to thank.

Be the class clown: If you want people lining up to be your friend, you must be funny. An example would be to stand on your table in the middle of class and shout out some funny phrases. That’ll have the whole class and the teacher rolling on the floor. Another example would be to bring a speaker to school and play it during class and while you’re in the halls at full volume. This way, people will hear your fantastic music taste.

Drip out: If you want to be cool, you have to look the part. Clothing-wise, wear neon Nike clothing and galaxy print. You’ll stand out in a crowd, and all eyes will be on you. You also want to smell good, so you should douse yourself in Axe Body Spray at least twenty times every 30 minutes. Actually, you should just bathe in it, that way, your intoxicating smell will fill the air.

These tips should make you the most popular kid in your grade, if not the whole school. These tips are tried and true, and they’ll definitely help.
