1) Actually, the application process encouraged by LGHS, I’m sure you know the one–apply to nine schools, three each of safety, target, and reach–just stressed me out because there were only two schools I wanted to go to. Somehow I was convinced I needed to do three other applications..I couldn’t even think of nine, I only got to five. (three unnecessary applications). I think it should be less about the number and more about identifying the type of school you want to attend and only applying to schools that fit that criteria. I think that high school students, and adults get so caught up in the prestige of the school they can forget that they need to pick a place they want to live for the next four years. I am making the most of the opportunities presented to me academically, and if I do that I could go to school wherever I want and secure a job. It’s more about how you conduct yourself and your resumé than the name of the school on your diploma. I love where I live, and it has made all the difference; I think environment needs to be more considered than it generally is. 2) I absolutely love college, I highly recommend it. Students at Boulder love being outside, so campus is always crowded, as is the Hill, a main street of stores and restaurants designed for college students, and the hiking trails in Chatauqua. We spend a lot of time enjoying the area around campus. 3) I have made the most amazing friends. I have created a life I love here. I ski on the weekends, I’m a member of the scholars program, I have a research grant, and I’m a director for my sorority. I hike, run, and explore the area. I love Boulder; the life I have here is better than I ever expected as a high school student. College is great, and everyone should go.
