Following the success of the latest Spider-Man film back in 2021, Marvel released its official trailer for the long-awaited Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Mar. 18. The trailer immediately sparked excitement, with fans dissecting each frame for clues to the actual film. The trailer soon became one of the most watched in history, reaching over 718 million views within the first 24 hours of its release.

The movie will come to theaters on Jul. 31, picking up four years after the last film left off. The team began filming in August of 2025 and spent much of their time in Glasgow, Scotland. Their unique camera techniques make the trailer intriguing and original, promising success on the movie’s release. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be exclusively shown in theaters for 60 days following its debut, before likely joining its predecessors on streaming services such as Netflix.

With an assortment of clips ranging from comedy, drama, and action scenes, director Destin Daniel Cretton keeps viewers intrigued, providing enough information to form theories, while not giving away any major details. One of many intriguing details includes Spiderman’s development of organic webbing, shown towards the end of the trailer. The cliffhanger of Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home left the audience in shambles, debating whether or not Peter Parker (Tom Holland) would be able to return the memories of himself to those around him. As the audience waits to have their questions answered, viewers speculate that Zendaya, who plays MJ, Peter Parker’s love interest, could be too engaged in the filming of other shows and movies, causing them to believe her appearances will be sparse. Taking the actress’s packed schedule into account along with the release of the trailer, Rotten Tomatoes explained, “It suggests Peter may not be able to recover her memories of him before the film ends.”

With the director introducing new elements to the movie, returning stars such as Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon are thrilled, along with fans, to be joined by Sadie Sink in the upcoming feature. While her exact role has not yet been released to the public, Rotten Tomatoes critics share, “Guesses as to who she will play include Mayday Parker — Peter and MJ’s child from an alternate future — the X-Men’s Jean Grey, a Punisher supporting character, and comic book Peter’s first girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. The latter has some appeal, as a version of the character emerged in the last 15 years as Ghost Spider or, as fans call her, Spider-Gwen.” Liza Colón-Zayas will also be accompanying the cast in Brand New Day, and although her role is also unreleased, the actresses’ new features pose many opportunities for their careers and for the film itself.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is sure to be groundbreaking, not only to Marvel fans but also to the film industry, as this upcoming release has kept them on the edge of their seats. The trailer’s striking success will undoubtedly be reflected in the release of the movie, and as more theories emerge, be certain to find out the truth in theaters this summer.
