On Dec. 4, a gunman entered Feather River Adventist, a private elementary school in Butte County. The assailant injured two kindergarteners and then turned his weapon on himself, ending his own life. Reportedly the intruder had met with administrators to enroll a student just before the shooting. Police suspect the meeting may have been a ploy to enter the campus. The injured five and six-year-old boys are in critical condition at the hospital. Officers obtained the identity of the gunman but have not yet released the name to the public. Police think the attacker may have targeted the school because of its connection to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, as he has no known connection to the school. The Butte County community is still feeling the effects of the shooting and providing support to emotionally affected children and adults.
