During a Congressional Black Caucus meeting, Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee told congressional colleagues that she plans to run for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat in 2024. Feinstein’s Senate seat is one of the most desired posts in California politics, and the opening seat launched interest from ambitious and prominent elected leaders. A few days prior, Rep. Katie Porter (D-Irvine) announced her campaign to replace Feinstein. Rep. Gregory W. Meeks (D-N.Y.), head of the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, commended Lee as a member of Congress who “knows how to deliver and get things done.” Meeks said the Congressional Black Caucus PAC would “absolutely” support her bid for the Senate.
