From performances in the duo Wham to a passionate solo career, British singer-songwriter George Michael shared his life journey through his music with the world. From hits like Freedom 90 to Careless Whisper, George Michael managed to stun and intrigue people around the world with his lyrics and unique style.
Michael launched his career in the 1980s with Andrew Ridgeley in the popular musical duo Wham. After their great success, Michael left the pair in 1986 to start his solo career. As he continued his musical evolution, Michael ventured into funkier genres and even incorporated elements of jazz into his music.
With his hit album Faith and greatest hits album Twenty Five, Michael toured and donated many of his proceeds to various charitable organizations such as, Childline, Terrence Higgins Trust, and Macmillan Cancer Support up until 2016.
Unfortunately, on Dec. 25 2016, Michael was found dead in his home in London. It is believed he passed from a congestive heart failure, however some believe Michael to have overdosed. Michael’s childhood friend Andros Georgiou claims that “I think it was an accident… I think he took too much of something.”
Though many presumptions are floating around the media, Michael will not only be missed in his home of London, but around the world.
