On Fri., Mar. 21, the Los Gatos Swim and Dive teams took on Homestead High School at a home meet. Anyone who attended knows that this was an impressive meet for our swim team. In terms of individual team scores, 3 out of 4 Los Gatos teams came out on top. Our Junior Varsity boys lost only by a single point, which is still a remarkable feat. Los Gatos dominated both the Junior Varsity and Varsity categories. In the Junior Varsity division, the team won with 191 points compared to Homestead’s 180 points. Similarly, in the Varsity division, the team won with 227 points compared to Homestead’s 141 points. A few varsity team highlights included victories by sophomore Koji Kosumi in the boys’ 500 yard freestyle, junior Sarah Jin in the girls’ 100 yard backstroke, junior Alex Grimes in the girls’ 100 yard backstroke, and senior Jonathan Panchak in the boys’ 100 yard breaststroke. Evidently, the swim team is off to an incredible start this season.
The dive team had an impressive showing at the meet as well. Although only the Varsity girls emerged victorious, Junior Varsity girls, Junior Varsity boys, and Varsity boys still put up a fierce competition. In the end, the scores were quite close, and Coaches Mike and Carla are proud of the team. The divers are looking forward to their next meet against Monte Vista, and further developing their skills this season.
