Los Gatos Plays Archbishop Mitty

After a close score in the first half, Archbishop Mitty ultimately defeated Los Gatos on Sept. 6 at Foothill College. The season’s kickoff game ended with the the Monarchs eventually pulling a 23-14 victory over The Wildcats, after Los Gatos held the lead through the first two quarters of the game.

Junior Joey Wood turned the score around early in the game with a 41-yard run through the middle of the field and proceeded to score on third-and-goal from the one yard line in the first quarter. On the third play, senior Nick Bawden thre 11-yards in the end zone to senior Cody Marshall, which put Los Gatos in the lead 14-6. Other notable players who gave Los Gatos momentum in the first half include senior Cole Wisecarver, junior Drew Brown, and PAT kicker, senior Logan Chapman.The entire rundown of the game included

  • Mitty- Monroe 87 run (kick failed)

  • Los Gatos – Wood 1 run (Chapman kick)

  • Los Gatos – Marshall 11 pass from Bawden (Chapman kick)

  • Mitty – Monroe 51 run (run failed)

  • Mitty – Ramirez 23 run (Evans run)

  • Mitty – Scharrenberg 7 run (Monroe pass from Scharrenberg)

Los Gatos welcomed veteran coach Mark Krail this year to replace Butch Cattolico as head football coach for the Wildcats after Cattolico’s retirement last season. This season, Krail has three all-leaguers and 27 varsity returnees for 2013. Although the defensive lineup is star-studded with Los Gatos seniors,  the Wildcats are looking for the next great offensive players to replace the offensive starters who graduated last year. Regardless, the Los Gatos Varsity Football Team is in for another thrilling season.
