The San Jose Sharks are off to a fantastic start this season. They have won all six games so far, making them one of just two undefeated teams. The team leads the Pacific Division and have the most shots-on-goal overall. They also have the highest average goals per game. Despite their successes, the team as a whole is not the talk of the hockey world. One player in particular shines brighter than the rest.

LGHS Field Hockey Starts Season Strong
In 2010, seniors Marcia Lewis, Jamie Leong, Sadie Logan and Hannah Westall-Toler watched in awe as the LGHS field hockey team won its third consecutive CCS title. Now seniors and leaders of the LGHS field hockey team, the girls are determined to end their last season together the same way they ended their first: as CCS Champions.
Government Shutdown 2013
The nation is buzzing with talk of the government shutdown that became official on Oct. 1. Congress was alive with debate up until midnight of that fateful Tuesday on Capitol Hill, when they were supposed to have come up with a budget plan to continue funding the federal government.

GIANTS FIGHT FOR SUCCESS
With their backs against the wall in 2012, the Giants fought game after game. This season was not as successful as 2012, and the Giants ended with an average below .500, snapping their four-season winning streak. Many of their players struggled this season.

Floods devastate Colorado
On Wed., Sept. 11 heavy Colorado rains caused a one of the most devastating floods in the area in years. Thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate their homes. As of Tuesday, many Colorado residents are returning to see the damage to their homes.
Shooter Strikes DC Navy Yard
On Sept 16, a gunman went on a shooting rampage is the Washington D.C. Navy Yard, leaving thirteen dead. Police identified the shooter as thirty-four year old Aaron Alexis, a contractor from Fort Worth, TX. Alexis injured at least a dozen.
Catalina Offers Fun in the Sun
LGHS AP Biology and AP Environmental Science students experienced the opportunity of a lifetime when they went on a weekend-long field trip to Catalina Island. These photos reveal some of the brightest moments of the exciting trip.
LGHS Football Halftime Performance
On the Sept. 13 LGHS football game versus Menlo-Atherton, the LGHS cheer team, marching band, color guard, and dance team worked together to create a stellar halftime performance.
Player of the Month: Betsy Wall
When senior Betsy Wall rises out of the water with the ball in hand, all the shot-blockers and goalies want to duck and cover. Though the season has yet to begin, there is no doubt that last year’s Rookie of the Year will be a star this season on LGHS’s water polo team.

Last year Sophomore Eleni Kokinos and her family decided to put aside work and school in favor of traveling the world. Kokinos’ rare experience allows her to make several insightful comments about the countries and cultures she and her families discovered.

Los Gatos Plays Archbishop Mitty
After a close score in the first half, Archbishop Mitty ultimately defeated Los Gatos on Sept. 6 at Foothill College. The season’s kickoff game ended with the the Monarchs eventually pulling a 23-14 victory over The Wildcats.
