With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 in June of 2025, Nintendo announced a flurry of new games they will release in 2026 to accommodate the latest console. From reboot games to sequels of beloved classics, there’s an appealing option for every audience. Take note that all Games announced are playable for Switch 2, and not for the original Switch released in 2018

Mario Tennis Fever, which was released on Feb. 15, is a combination of the cherished Nintendo characters and Wii Sports. Mario Tennis Fever is a new exercise-oriented game. With 38 playable characters, gamers can choose an avatar to play a match with either other people or CPUs (a computer opponent). There is plenty of material for users to experiment with different modes and gameplay in just one software. For users who are interested in gameplay similar to Mario Tennis Fever but do not have access to a Switch 2, Mario Tennis Aces is a great alternative.

Pokémon’s  popularity growth in the past couple of years means many fans cannot stop raving about Pokémon Pokopia, released on Mar. 5. Pokopia brings everyone’s favorite characters into a more relaxing gameplay and new art design. Unlike the usual battles that come with Pokémon, Pokopia revolves around creating a world alongside characters like Pikachu. Players can create communities, gardens, and gather resources to enhance their world. Imagine Animal Crossing but with MewTwo instead of Isabelle.

Planned for release on Apr. 16, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a sequel to the Tomodachi Collection. Tomodachi Life is a social simulation game where players can customize their characters, called Miis, and the island they live on. It focuses on building relationships and experiencing life as a Mii. Unlike most new titles, Tomodachi Life will be available on both Nintendo 1 and 2.

Although already available on Xbox and other platforms, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second installment of the remake trilogy, will be playable on the Nintendo system on Jun. 3. Filled with new mini games and an impressive number of side quests, the remake will provide its players with fresh yet nostalgic experiences. Join Cloud Strife and his crew as they progress through their adventure!

Splatoon Raiders is set to be released in spring, though a definitive decision has not been reached . A spin-off game of the beloved Splatoon series that found popularity on the original Switch, Raiders features the DeepCut trio, who appear in the Origins series and center around their adventures. More information will be released in the next Nintendo Direct.

Besides completely new games, 2026 also welcomed Switch 2 versions of Switch 1’s original games, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizon (Jan. 15) and Hollow Knight (Feb. 5). Players can expect more Switch 2 adaptations in the future.

For those looking for a new game to play to relieve stress or enjoy with friends, these new Nintendo Games provide a variety of fun opportunities.
