Originating in 1810, Oktoberfest stretches about 15 days, from late September to early October People celebrate Oktoberfest with copious drinking, usually beer. Last year, on Oct. 3, Munich festival goers consumed more than 6.5 million liters of beer. This, however, doesn’t compare to the beer drank in 2011, over 8 million liters, about 1.7 million gallons.
