The holidays are a time for laughter, food, family time, and of course, great music. Many renowned artists have released holiday music covers and originals. This holiday, I crafted my own impeccable holiday playlist, and I hope, with some inspiration, you can too!
The first must-have song is All I Want for Christmas is You by Maria Carey. As Carey defrosts her iconic high note every holiday season, I have to defrost my playlist with this hit. Although not the most entertaining or enjoyable song, All I Want for Christmas is You is a must-listen every December, even if you only listen to it once.
The majority of my playlist consists of songs by Michael Bublé. In my opinion, no one’s voice sounds more like cozy December and hot chocolate by the fire than Bublé, making any of his songs the perfect addition to your playlist. Bublé has released many versions of his holiday album Christmas, including a deluxe version for the original’s 10th-anniversary edition, adding up to over 25 released holiday songs. Some of my favorites include Let It Snow!, Maybe This Christmas, and The More You Give (The More You’ll Have).
Another necessary song in my playlist is The Chanukah Song by Adam Sandler. Here are some of my favorite lyrics from that song: “There’s a lot of Christmas songs out there and uh/Not too many Chanukah songs, so I Wrote,/wrote a song for all those nice little Jewish kids/ Who don’t get to hear any Chanukah songs.” This is exactly what Sandler did! Not only did he write a holiday song, but he wrote a memorable Chanukah song.
Many pop singers have also released holiday songs, often with twists. For example, Justin Bieber’s album, Under the Mistletoe (Deluxe Edition), features 15 incredible and noteworthy songs. As this album is a no-skip album, I recommend adding every song to your holiday playlist. Ariana Grande also has holiday songs that feature her recognizable vocals and high notes. Sabrina Carpenter’s holiday songs from her extended play Fruitcake are unique, to say the least. A few of my favorites from this EP include A Nonsense Christmas, a play on her song Nonsense, and her take on White Christmas, white xmas.
Lastly, to take a break from all holiday pop songs, many country artists have created their own covers of classic holiday songs. The song Run Run Rudolph by Luke Bryan offers the ideal country twist that separates it from the many covers of the same song. Christmas in the Country by Thomas Rhett, Christmas Morning by Megan Moroney, and Up on the House Top by Blake Shelton are also must-ads. With all of these holiday songs, you are sure to have the perfect playlist to be on auxiliary for the holiday season.
