On Labor Day, Sept. 2, a picnic turned to horror in Malibu Creek State Park when a mountain lion attacked a five-year-old boy. This incident happened while the young boy and other children were playing near the picnic table. The lion tried to drag him into the woods, which prompted nearby relatives to rescue him. An adult from the table jumped up and charged at the mountain lion to scare it away. The mountain lion eventually released the boy, leaving him with both a bite and a scratch wound. This happened at 4:21 PM in a park 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. According to USA Today, the boy received “non-life-threatening” but significant wounds, and emergency services airlifted him to the nearby hospital.
