After decades of abandonment, the historic Luna Luna art amusement park will reopen, bringing back the work of famous contemporary artists. On Dec. 1, the rapper and singer Drake purchased the park, planning to reopen it in downtown Los Angeles later this month. “When I first heard about Luna Luna, I was blown away,” Drake stated to the New York Times. “It’s such a unique and special way to experience art.” Since people last rode the carnival rides in 1987, Luna Luna cannot operate many of the attractions. Still, the amusement park rides feature the creations of famous contemporary artists, such as Salvador Dali, Keith Haring, and Roy Lichtenstein. Drake aims to run the immersive art exhibit through the spring of 2024.
