After a long and accomplished season, Los Gatos High School Boys Lacrosse has officially ended. Not only did they have an impressive run in their league, the boys won the Central Coast Section Division II Championship against Palo Alto on Saturday, May 18.

To make their way to the championship, LG, the first seed in the tournament, first had to face Palma High School in a very close match. Through a tough fought game they secured a score of 11-10, sending the team to the semi-finals. They moved on to play Archbishop Mitty, seeded fourth, and once again came out victorious with a final score of 11-4. Sophomore defender Zach Otoupal continued his history of endline to endline plays when he scored yet another goal as long pole. Other notable contributors to the impressive seven point score differential included senior captain Jack Baldwin, junior Luke Goddard, and sophomore Ben Reily

In the championship game against Palo Alto, the boys found themselves up 9-4 after a long two-quarter battle. They locked in for the third quarter, and once they had momentum, Paly failed to stop their drives to goal. Many notable scores came from the attacking end, but the play of the game goes to sophomore Zach Gouldrup with his impressive behind the back goal, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers of astonishment. LG defense kept Paly out with a myriad of turnovers, but eventually, after a quick series of goals, Paly caught up, only trailing by two. With a short game of keep away at the end of the fourth quarter, LG won with a score of 12-10.

Not only did the boys have a decorated season, Los Gatos Girls Lacrosse also found themselves victorious, undefeated in league. The Varsity team ended up winning league after an overtime win against Gunn earlier in the season caused tension for the league title. The girls faced Gunn again on Apr. 30, but this time the Varsity team dominated the game and won 10-6. They made it to the quarterfinals of the Division I CCS tournament, but faced Sacred Heart Prep, the first seed, and sadly lost.

After an impressive season, it is no surprise that the SCVAL league awarded First Team All league awards to seven of the girls including senior Aubrey Salud, senior Agata Fin, junior Avelene Celinski, and senior Elodie Douglas. Senior Teagan Fogerty won the coveted Defender of the Year award and junior Scarlett Roberts won Attacker of the Year.

Make sure to congratulate both teams on a successful year and wish those returning next year an equally prosperous season.
