IB Exam Leak

Many students who took the International Baccalaureate (IB) exams worry that IB will cancel results after exam questions were supposedly leaked online. The math portion of the test taken on May 1 and May 2 appeared online on May 3 creating a potential cheating risk. Several have taken to social media claiming the leaks to be “unfair,” since now some students taking the test in later time zones can access the exam’s content. One student wrote on social media platform X “I do not want my efforts to be ruined by someone else’s academic misconduct.”

IB claims that the content shared online was not official IB exam papers, but instead mocked-up papers created by students who had memorized exam questions and shared them online to benefit students taking the test at a later date. IB states that “any attempt to compromise the integrity of IB examinations is taken seriously” and they have “actively worked to identify and remove instances of shared examination content online, and hold the students responsible accountable.” IB additionally clarified that students who did not participate in the leaks will have their tests scored as usual.

It is unclear how many students saw the content online before the exams, or whether IB altered any of the leaked questions in time before testing began. Although IB has acknowledged the leak, nothing is yet confirmed.
