Club Day is back! On Sept. 8, Los Gatos High School held its first Club Day of the year on the front lawn. No matter what you may be into, LGHS has the perfect club for you; the available clubs contain lots of variety ranging from K-Pop Dance Club to Women in STEM to Animal Lovers.
To draw in crowds, numerous clubs gave away candy and advertised their activities. The Surf Club, run by juniors Jack Shyba and Sean Iverson, had a unique approach, handing out Otter Pops to new members.
President of Model UN Aleks Rombakh expressed how excited she is to welcome new members and share her love for international affairs: “Model UN is like Speech and Debate, but more casual,” Rombakh explained, encouraging more students to join this year. Although Rombakh believes running the club is a lot of fun, she recalls how stressful the job can be at times, stating, “I host most of the meetings, [and] I also organize [the club] for conferences.” Rombakh is looking forward to Model UN this year as it is a point of passion for her.
Junior Paige Yip signed up for Model UN as well as the Pay It Forward Club. Yip stated that she joined the Pay It Forward Club “for a really good cause and because the leadership is very friendly.”
However, some students find there isn’t always a club for them. Junior Miki Costedoat commented, “There was a Rebel Art Club last year, and that was pretty interesting because it was unique.” She says they focused on digital art that varied from classic graphic design.
Junior Sky Taylor is the vice president of the newly formed French Club. “This club is a great place for people who love French stuff and want to have fun,” Taylor explains. The French Club provides those who are interested in learning about the country a way to explore the foods, cinema, art, and culture of France.
Club Day is a great way to explore our school’s interests and creativity as well as your own. For those who missed Club Day and wish to get in on the action, do not fret! All information about joining clubs and creating forms can be found at LGHS Activities.
