California may be experiencing one of its coldest winters in years, but New Englanders are seasoned veterans when it comes to braving the winter cold. If there’s one thing that people on the east coast know how to do, its survive the cold in style. Over the break, I had the opportunity to ask some native New Englanders about east coast fashion during the winter.
The biggest thing that I took away from the weekend is the importance of clothing brands. New Englanders love their brand names. Brands such as Patagonia, North Face, J. Crew, L.L. Bean, and Ralph Lauren are huge staples for easterners.
Most of the people I came in contact with said that a pairing of L.L. Bean boots with jeans or khakis and a popular branded sweater is a go-to outfit for the months of December through March. As you can see from the photos, blue jeans or khakis seem to be the most popular option amongst Northeastern teens. The number one thing to keep in mind when dressing as an easterner does is to keep it classy, and keep it clean. It’s good to think yachts, Ivy League schools, and rich-family brunches.
Next time you’re shopping for some winter ensembles, consider looking to the always-classy New Englanders for fashion help. For more inspiration on preppy style and fashion, look into the online catalogs of stores like Patagonia, Vineyard Vines, and J. Crew.
Also, Crocs now makes knock-off Bean boots. Just so you have options.
