California’s Park Fire was the fourth-largest wildfire in state history and the largest allegedly caused by arson. In its first two days, the Park Fire destroyed more than 130 structures and burned over 175,000 acres of land, with temperatures reaching well over 100 degrees. The Park Fire, lasting over two months, set the state record for most acres burned due to arson at 430,000 acres. In total, wildfires have burned over one million acres of land in the state this year, with nearly half caused by arson. The increase in arson incidents may be linked to the growing heat and dry conditions, which pose an increasing problem for California.
