After what felt like a lifetime of anticipation, the popular and beloved boba shop, Boba Guys, finally opened a location in Los Gatos. Previously, the nearest Boba Guys was in San Jose’s Santana Row, another popular destination. Located in Old Town, the new Boba Guys is the talk of the town. As soon as the store opened, during the third week of August, Los Gatos High School students flocked to get a taste of the delicious teas offered. Now, the store is regularly full of both students and Los Gatos residents.

Known for its wide range of high-quality milk teas, some of its best sellers include its tea frescas, milk teas, and beloved Strawberry Matcha Latte. Boba Guys finds pride in having healthy tea, which is free of artificial ingredients and powders. Since the first location opened in San Francisco in 2011, Boba Guys has expanded, adding locations in Los Angeles, New York, and across the San Francisco Bay, including Los Altos, Oakland, Palo Alto, and San Jose.

Senior Boden Ruvane is one of the many students thrilled about the opening and has quickly become a frequent patron of the new establishment. “I’m so excited,” Ruvane said, “I’ve been there probably 12 times.” When asked why he visits Boba Guys so frequently, Ruvane explained, “I really love boba. It’s my favorite thing ever, and Boba Guys, you know, [is] only eight bucks for a cup of boba. It’s just a great deal. It’s really delicious, and it’s something that I love to do after school with my friends.”

To add to the excitement, one of Los Gatos High School’s students works here, junior Griffin Marozas. Marozas has been working at Boba Guys since its soft opening, which was about a month ago. Marozas says he enjoys working there because of the many benefits. He described how he feels more connected to his heritage: “Since I’m half Taiwanese, I get to be connected to my Asian culture.” On top of that, Marozas went into detail about his job, saying, “I like making stuff that I enjoy, obviously, and great benefits there. Anytime you’re on shift, you can make drinks for yourself, and then you get to take some home for your friends and your family. Also when people come in, especially your friends, even though they can be annoying, it’s still fun to work with them and help serve them.” Although the official opening date was a few weeks ago, Marozas said, “I wouldn’t say it’s much of a difference from when we were soft open, but it’s just enjoyable all the time when I’m working there, because I’m doing something that I love.” Marozas recommends the Lychee Oolong or Strawberry Jasmine teas. With this new opening, the town of Los Gatos certainly has a new favorite boba shop.
