2026 Gato Globe Awards

Worst Marketing Fail: Aaanddd the worst marketing fail of the year goes to…the Sydney Sweeney x American Eagle “Great Jeans” ad! What was meant to come off as cheeky and cute instead translated into a eugenic message, leaving a lasting (negative) impression on everyone. Truly, they could not have won this award without the GAP Denim x Katseye collaboration, which followed shortly after and pushed “Great Jeans” to victory. This award is dedicated to the poor women around the world who developed body dysmorphia and tried to go blonde; you will be remembered.

Best Tour: The award for Best Tour goes to none other than the Eras of Trish: 35 nights of bliss and adventure with online personality Trisha Paytas. At the San Jose Civic, Paytas sang, danced, and cracked jokes about her fetus being the reincarnated late pope while eight months pregnant with her son, Aquaman. But between her flashy numbers and unique quips, Paytas took time to interact with the audience: complimenting outfits, answering questions, and even singing favorite songs by request. Paytas’s commitment to putting on the best show possible makes her the obvious recipient of the Best Tour award.

Most Unexpected Celebrity Couple: In 2025, very few couples made public appearances; one key exception to this observation was the pair of Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. Though talented actor Chalamet and reality television personality Jenner were rumored to have started dating around 2023, their presence in the media this year has skyrocketed due to the release of Chalamet’s new film, Marty Supreme. Their coupling has also sparked varied opinions on their surprising yet seemingly successful relationship. Both celebrities endured multiple breakup rumors but countered them by appearing together at various public events. Jenner’s support for Chalamet’s career is immensely apparent, especially when she wore a Marty Supreme-branded jacket to a New York Yankees game and a bright orange dress to the Critics’ Choice Awards, paying homage to the film. These moments earned Chalamet and Jenner the Most Unexpected Couple Award of 2025.

Best Feud on X: The drama in the music industry in 2025 was one for the books. Sabrina Carpenter’s feud with the White House dominated the headlines. In early December, a music video supporting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) featured Carpenter’s song Juno and quickly went viral on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. When the White House official X account reposted the video, Carpenter’s response to it triggered a whirlwind of attention no one could have predicted. She called the use of her song “heinous and disgusting,” citing ICE’s “inhumane agenda.” After her post racked up over 138 million views, the White House took down its post. This incredibly entertaining interaction between artists and the U.S. government captured the nation’s attention, earning Carpenter and the White House the title of the Best Feud on X in 2025.

Best Sports Moment: 2025 was the year of the underdog. Many teams, such as the Oklahoma City Thunder in the National Basketball Association and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, captured their first titles in franchise history. Yet, perhaps the top sports moment of the year was Alysa Liu winning the 2025 World Figure Skating Championship. After stepping away from competing in 2022, Liu made a surprising return to the 2025 season. Her comeback exceeded all expectations, as she finished three points ahead of three-time defending champion Kaori Sakamoto to claim the title. This victory serves as a landmark in U.S. figure skating history, making her the first American woman to win the championship in almost two decades.
