Roblox, the game that plagued many of our childhoods, experienced a resurgence over the summer. If you’ve recently become addicted to the popular site, do not fear. Join us for a blast to the past, or the future, as we recap and review our favorite games on the site.
Epic Minigames – 9.9/10: With rounds rarely exceeding five minutes, Epic Minigames is the quasi-arcade of Roblox. If you couldn’t tell from the name, Epic Minigames is home to over 100 games, ranging from the collaborative Protect the Statue to the free-for-all Slippery Sledding. Whether you need a dopamine hit between classes or a night-long destresser, Epic Minigames is objectively perfect. The only downside to this masterpiece is that for 199 Robux, you can pick the minigame fifteen times, causing eight-year-olds across the globe to force lobbies to play Laser Tag for hours on end.
Royale High – 6/10: Royale High is a modern ghost town. The once-flourishing paradise of badly rendered ballrooms, sub-par flying mechanics, and questionable role-playing faded away. Left in its place remains only a shell of what it used to be: a pay-to-win copy-paste of every other high school simulator. Royale High OGs mourn the loss of Enchantix High and Fantasia Hotel, the two auxiliary servers of the main game which were arguably even better than the former legend.
Dress to Impress – 12/10: The Roblox resurgence is nothing without Dress to Impress. From genuine fashion stand-offs to Pokemon look-alike competitions, Dress to Impress is an exhilarating representation of modern creative expression. Currently standing as one of the most popular games on the site, Dress to Impress’s large number of server occupants speaks for itself: the game is a flawless favorite of many.
Bloxburg – 6/10: Though many say Bloxburg contributed to the peak of the Roblox era, its downfall has greatly affected the rating displayed. What once was an amazing building game with realistic jobs and families is now a free-to-use mess. Now, it is accessible to just anyone and not only paying subscribers! Yes, realism is important in this game category, but paying hospital bills is sickening. Hopefully, the new creators will soon realize what they have done to what once was a vital park of many Robloxians’ childhoods.
Natural Disaster Survival – 8/10: As an enjoyable, nostalgic game, Natural Disaster Survival is an experience one could spend hours playing. However, it is highly dated and has repetitive disasters, with the same map every time. Having said that, the creators should not change it because of its sentimental value to a huge population of early 2000s kids. With three billion visits since its release in 2011, Natural Disaster Survival is a classic.
Hide-n-Seek Extreme – 9/10: This Roblox game doesn’t just consist of simplistic rounds of Hide-n-Seek. With creative maps, high-tech advancements, and endless possibilities, this game could be considered one for the thriller genre. From simply reading the name, the title warns you of what you’re in for. With only one point docked off, the only critique I have for this game is that the maps are simply too big, which makes the rounds too extensive.
