The 2026 Golden Globes highlighted numerous films and actors, with this year’s ceremony taking place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Nikki Glaser emceed the event once again, kicking the night off with a controversial monologue, referencing A-list celebrities as a “list heavily redacted” and followed her quip by saying, “The Golden Globe for best editing goes to …the Justice Department!”
The night cooled down after its mildly dramatic beginning, with Glaser handing out the first award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture to Teyana Taylor for her performance in One Battle After Another. The comedy won a total of four awards, including Taylor’s win, Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and the director Paul Thomas Anderson winning prizes for Best Screenplay – Motion Picture and Best Director – Motion Picture. Taylor dedicated her acceptance speech to “[my] brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight,” explaining that their “light does not need permission to shine.” Netflix also took home several awards: Adolescence won the Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, with several of its actors winning awards for individual performances. Additionally, Netflix secured the Best Motion Picture – Animated with KPop Demon Hunters, marking Netflix’s second-ever win for that category.
The awards for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy both went to first-time Golden Globe winners: Timothee Chalamet and Rose Byrne. The Golden Globe Foundation previously nominated Chalamet for four titles, but the 2026 ceremony was his first win for his performance in Marty Supreme. In his acceptance speech, Chalamet commented, ”My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude…[allowing] me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed…grateful just to be here. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments make this moment that much sweeter.” 2026 was Rose Byrne’s first Golden Globes, despite previously receiving two Emmy nominations much earlier in her career. After being announced the winner, Byrne dedicated her speech to her family, highlighting how their support helped her earn the award.
Glaser distributed many other categories throughout the night, including Best Original Song – Motion Picture (Golden from KPop Demon Hunters), and Best Motion Picture Drama (Hamnet). This year’s ceremony introduced a new award, Best Podcast, which went to Amy Poehler with Good Hang with Amy Poehler. Next year’s event is set to take place during January, with the Golden Globes’ producers revealing that they would like to see Glaser back as the host for a third year.
