Los Gatos High School’s lacrosse teams are gearing up for another successful season. They have been training hard in the preseason to improve on their performances from last year, and with all the players working hard and putting in effort, both the boys’ and girls’ teams will inevitably triumph this season.

LGHS Boys’ Lacrosse had a great season last year. They beat Palo Alto High School by a score of 12-10, winning the Central Coast Section (CCS) championship for Division II. They also beat numerous other teams, such as Archbishop Mitty in the CCS semifinals, Los Altos High, and Saratoga High. With the team boasting exceptional players and coaches, Boys’ Lacrosse is looking to replicate their past success this season and will strive to win CCS again this year. LGHS Boys’ Lacrosse will play their first game against Menlo on Feb. 25 at Helm Field.

LGHs Girls’ Lacrosse had a similarly successful season last year, finishing as the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL) champions. They also beat many other teams, such as Gunn High School, Wilcox, and Mountain View. Girls’ Lacrosse is looking forward to improving even further this season. According to junior Isha Joshi, “We are putting in double the effort, double the time, and really trying to focus on improving as an individual and as a team.” Both teams are stressing the importance of putting in time and effort, as this is something that will undoubtedly help them during the season. When asked about their biggest goals, sophomore Darcy Armstrong said, “To make it to CCS and do our best to make it through the first round and eventually win it.” LG Girls’ Lacrosse is looking forward to a great season and will play against Hillsdale on Mar. 3 at Helm Field.

Lacrosse is taking team chemistry very seriously this season. Joshi explained, “We are all bonded. The biggest thing before we actually start games is to get to know our teammates, get to know each other and our strengths and weaknesses to bond as one team.” Both teams realize the importance of working well together on the lacrosse field. Team bonding will continue to help throughout the lacrosse season and will result in even more success for both groups.

LGHS Lacrosse has set big personal and team goals for themselves this season, and with the players putting in significant work during the off-season, these goals will likely be achieved. With a challenging off-season training regimen including weightlifting and numerous hours of strenuous practice, LGHS Lacrosse is poised to have another great year. According to Armstrong, “We are just going to make sure we have chemistry on and off the field and that we are fit and ready for the season.” Make sure to come to Helm Field and buy tickets on GoFan to support our fantastic teams this upcoming season!
