The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Maccio, is a hallmark film of the eighties. Whether you grew up with the movie and its questionable sequels or not, spin-off Cobra Kai is a must-watch. Cobra Kai simultaneously follows Johnny Lawrence and Miguel Diaz: the washed-up high school bully from the Karate Kid movies and his nerdy, asthmatic teenage neighbor. After Johnny drunkenly beats up Miguel’s bullies with his karate skills, Johnny decides to reopen the Cobra Kai dojo, sparking tension across the San Fernando Valley. With its violent brawls, emotional confrontations, and often-idiotic humor, Cobra Kai, including its recently released sixth season, packs a punch great enough to keep any viewer hooked for life.
