On May 17, a Kyrgyz mob attacked Pakistani foreigners in Bishkek over an unknown dispute. The next day, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan issued a statement asking the thousands of students or working nationals in Kyrgyzstan to stay indoors. On May 18, a special flight flew 140 Pakistani students out of Bishkek, landing at an airport in Lahore, Pakistan. The Interior Ministry plans to use more flights to help students return. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif immediately sent a senior Cabinet minister to Biskek to oversee the efforts to support Pakistan students.
