Freshman Kennedy Bahr has already made her mark on LGHS. As a member of LGHS leadership, the dance team, the baking club, and the From Survivors For Survivors club, Bahr stays eminently involved, despite the pandemic and her status as a second semester freshman. She has lived in Los Gatos since she was eight years old, and prior to that, she spent her early years living in Colorado. Bahr has made life in quarantine the best it can be by picking up all sorts of new hobbies and activities. Despite her bright and bubbly personality, she admits that she misses in-person interactions and all the action that comes from school.

Bahr shines brightest in the spotlight on stage. She is an avid theater participant and adores performing. This performer began ballet at the age three, and later became interested in several other forms of dance as well.

At the young age of eight, she participated in her local community’s musical while living in Colorado. Ever since that show, Bahr has been in love with theatre. She now consistently participates in productions through Children’s Musical Theatre San Jose (CMTSJ). Bahr has also done productions with several other theatre companies as well, including Sunnyvale Community Theater and Palo Alto Players. Her favorite production and role thus far was with the CMTSJ production of Matilda, in which she played the character of Alice. In addition to live performances such as theater, she has participated in independent student films as a voice over actor.

Regarding academics, Bahr adores her Honors English class, as she is an avid reader. She is making the best out of the distance learning experience by finding small, positive things about each class. The academian stated, “I love the flexibility of online school, because I can choose when to do my work and have more options with how I go about my day.”

Bahr explained that she “has been a hobby hopper throughout quarantine,” since she develops interest in new hobbies quite frequently. Mainly, Bahr has read numerous books, especially over the winter break. Besides reading, she sews a plethora of items, such as stuffed animals, bucket hats, and even clothes. Bahr shared that she moves from project to project quite quickly, but always enjoys having something fun and exciting to spend time doing. She also loves spending her time in the kitchen, and is specifically interested in baking. Although her favorite treat to bake is chocolate chip cookies, she challenges herself by trying difficult recipes, often inspired by those on The Great British Baking Show.

Bahr immerses herself in wonderful activities and finds joy in the many aspects of her academics. One thing many may not know about Bahr is that she knows an abundance of facts about her favorite animal: giraffes. Be sure to watch out for Bahr’s shining personality on and off stage post-pandemic.
