Los Gatos High School has been known for its excellent athletics program for decades. Though coaches and staff do contribute to the constant success of our teams, there are always a few players who truly lead their team to victory. One such player is senior Connor Faries

As one of two captains, Faries led the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team through the 2019/20 season from the backfield, playing goalkeeper. With otherworldly saves, a strong voice of authority, and an instinctual knowledge of the game, Faries led the Wildcats to an impressive 8-9-3 record and even a CCS appearance.

Though the soccer season ended over two months ago, Faries is still being recognized for his exemplary performance on the pitch. The Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, SCVAL, rewarded Faries with the 2020 MVP Goalkeeper Award. In addition, he made the annual 1st Team honors along with fellow senior Dori Hjalmarson, who plays midfield for the Wildcats.

At the end of the day, Faries is a student-athlete, meaning that his academics are a priority. He takes countless advanced classes such as AP Psychology, AP US Government & Politics/Economics Honors, and even AP Environmental Science. Through his impressive variety of classes, Faries proves his exemplary success both in class and on the field.

Though Faries may be leaving LGHS in just a few weeks, his impact on the Wildcat Soccer community will remain imprinted for many years to come.
